Continuing Professional Development

An important part of our mission is to support our members in their professional development and ongoing learning. We are currently offering regular CPD sessions on March 1st, June 1st and September 1st.

These focus on a specific area of professional development and education, such as diversity, equity and inclusion work; music and DJ skills; non-violent communication; embodied sexuality; creative processes such as writing / theater / voice work in conscious movement spaces, etc.

These sessions are held for 2 hours by a teacher expert of that field.

They are free for ICMTA members and open to non-members with an entrance fee.

If you have a particular skill or field of knowledge you would like to offer, please let us know at info@icmta.com. Expert teachers are paid for these events.

You can find the recordings of the past events here (only for members).

Note: We are also offering monthly community dances held by teachers for teachers, only for members: Feet 1st. Please see here for details and next dates.

    Somatomy: Walk to Dance

    with Erik Iversen

    Monday September 1st 2025

    6:00 PM BST - 7:00 PM CEST - 8:00 PM IDT - 8:00 PM MSK - 10 AM PDT - 1 PM EST  (September 2nd 3 AM AEST - 5 AM NZST )

    Somatomy : Walk to Dance
In our present culture we are focusing our attention so often on various screens and digital devices, that we’re losing a natural connection with our bodies, the present moment and ourselves. By shifting our awareness and our curiosity to the feeling of moving our bodies, and the sensations of our breathing, we can regain a healthy and playful connection with ourselves and with others. During this gathering, I'll invite you to move, walk, and dance while you explore the flow of your attention and tune in to the feeling of your function and structure in movement. I’ll invite you to feel the different stages of your daily walking experience. I'll break down your walk and the structure of your feet .How can you feel your walk in your dance and your dance in your walk? You'll come away with a new feeling of embodied presence that you can easily cultivate to enrich your relationship with yourself and others.

    About Erik

Erik Iversen is a founding member of the 5Rhythms worldwide community. He was in his first training with Gabrielle in 1988 and become one of her first workshop producers out of Montreal in the 80’s. Over the following 40 years, he has taught the 5Rhythms in 15 countries as well as maintaining a one-on-one bodywork practice; over time he has integrated the wisdom he gained from his hands-on work with the insights from guiding thousands of dancers on the dance floor.
In 2016, he graduated from the 2-year Leadership and Transformation training at the Hendricks Institute. In 2020 he designed the Somatomy,™ a 3-module training that guides participants playfully through an experiential understanding of their anatomy. This approach offers powerful tools for creating deep presence and flow through 5Rhythms movement and conscious embodiment.
